Bhubaneswar: Flight services from Jharsuguda to Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad are likely to resume soon, with the state government making efforts to restore the suspended air connectivity, Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy said on Saturday.
Tripathy said he spoke to Chief Secretary Anu Garg over the phone on Saturday and also discussed the issue with the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). He said the matter is now in the final stage and flight operations from Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda are expected to resume shortly.
“Star Air’s flight services on the Hyderabad-Jharsuguda-Bhubaneswar and Bhubaneswar-Jharsuguda-Hyderabad routes were suspended a few days ago. I discussed the matter with the Chief Secretary over the phone today and also took it up with the CMO. The issue is in the final stage and the services will resume soon,” Tripathy said.
The suspension of the services has affected air connectivity between western Odisha, Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad, leaving passengers dependent on alternative modes of transport.
Meanwhile, Veer Surendra Sai Airport director Upendra Nath Dhaundia said Star Air’s flight operations from Jharsuguda to Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad have been suspended since August 17 and will remain suspended till October 24.
