Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience rainfall under the influence of two cyclonic circulations currently active in the region, according to prediction of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per IMD information, one is concentrated over north Odisha and adjoining areas of south Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand, while the other is positioned over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, along with the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha.
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall in 21 districts of the state today. Specifically, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangapur and Kalahandi are expected to receive 7 to 11 cm of rain. Besides, a yellow alert has been issued for 17 districts warning of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
Going by forecast of IMD, the intensity of rainfall is likely to increase from August 24 under the influence of the cyclonic circulations and is expected to continue across Odisha for the next five days.
