Malkangiri: Mathili police arrested a person on charges of impersonating VK Pandian’s brother-in-law and duping job aspirants to the tune of lakhs.
The accused has been identified as Ramesh Chandra Rout, a resident of Kendrapara. Many cases have been pending against Ramesh at several police stations.
As per the report, Ramesh has been accused of demanding money from job aspirants in the name of giving jobs. Not just one or two persons, he is alleged to have demanded money from many job aspirants for the same in Koraput, Kendrapara and Malkangiri districts.
According to reports, Ramesh and two other associates had promised people jobs in exchange for money and had collected lakhs of rupees from several individuals. They had also allegedly threatened to harm those who refused to pay.
Police have seized several documents and mobile phones from the accused, which are being examined. The investigation has revealed that the trio had links with other districts, including Koraput and Kendrapara. The trio is alleged to have received 26.20 lakh from one businessman Kartik Ray while one Nandakishore Puhan accused them of taking Rs 7.30 lakh from him for the job. Similarly, Madhab Haresh Kumar of the same locality accused them of taking Rs 10 lakh from him for the same purpose.
Mathili police, meanwhile, launched a manhunt for two other associates of Ramesh.
