Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths apprehended Purna Chandra Choudhry, Junior Engineer (J.E) of Kashipur Block in Rayagada district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.
The JE took the bribe at his residence in Rayagada from a Gaon Saathi (complainant) to facilitate the measurement of work executed and the release of labour payment under the MGNREG scheme. The entire bribe amount was recovered and seized from Choudhry’s possession.
Following the trap, a search was conducted at Choudhry’s residence from a Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle. A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
