Bhawanipatna: Chairperson of Kalampur Block in Kalahandi district, Moti Bihari, was removed from office following a unanimous no-confidence motion passed on Wednesday.
The process began on March 10, when 19 block committee members and sarpanches submitted a written complaint to the Dharmagarh Sub-Collector, accusing Bihari of mismanagement and corrupt practices. In response, the district administration scheduled a no-confidence vote, which took place today under the supervision of Additional Sub-Collector Ajay Kumar Tirkey, who served as the election officer.
The voting saw participation from all 21 block committee members and sarpanches, along with Dharmagarh MLA Sudhir Ranjan Pattjoshi. The outcome was decisive, with all 21 votes cast in favor of the no-confidence motion. One vote was rejected during the process, but it did not impact the result.
