Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance apprehended Anita Jena, Revenue Inspector (RI) of Kalosihiria, under Kuarmunda Tahasil in Sundargarh district while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 from an applicant for issuing the demarcation report of his ancestral land.
According to a release issued by Odisha Vigilance, the complainant had applied a few months ago for the demarcation report of his ancestral land. Despite repeated requests, Jena allegedly delayed the process without any valid reason. Vigilance officials said the RI instead demanded Rs 4,000 from the applicant for issuing the report.
Irked by the harassment, the applicant approached the Odisha Vigilance and lodged a complaint. Acting on the complaint, a Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Smt. Jena red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 4,000 from the complainant. The entire tainted money was recovered from her possession and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to the accused Revenue Inspector from a disproportionate assets angle.
In connection with the case, Rourkela Vigilance Police Station has registered Case No. 05 dated 20-07-2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Investigation is underway and a detailed report is awaited.
