Kantabanji(Balangir): A dawn-to-dusk bandh was observed in Kantabanji town in Balangir district over the demand for a separate district status.
The bandh called by the Kantabanji Zilla Sangharsha Samiti threw life out of gear as members of the Samiti resorted to picketing at strategic locations in the town.
While shops, schools, colleges, government offices and commercial establishments remained closed, vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt. However, emergency services were kept out of the purview of the shutdown.
Members of the Kantabanji Zilla Sangharsha Samiti staged a demonstration in support of their demand at Indira Chowk. Over 20 organisations of the town supported the bandh.
