Bhubaneswar: A court of Judicial Magistrate First Class in Chandikhol of Jajpur district today granted five-day remand of fraudster Syed Ishan Bukhari who was arrested by Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch in connection with his links to terror organizations.
The court granted five-day remand to the Crime Branch which sought seven-day remand. The accused will be interrogated from various aspects during the remand period.
Bukhari, a fraudster with suspected terror links, was arrested from Neulpur village under Dharmashala police limits in Jajpur district on Saturday.
A native of Handwara in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, Bukhari had been staying in Neurpur since 2018. The STF seized several incriminating documents and four mobile phones from his possession.
He had communication with some suspicious elements in Kerala and also with a few Pakistani nationals. He was impersonating as doctor with certificates issued by well-known medical colleges and institutions of the world like from medical colleges of USA, Canada, CMC Vellore. He claimed himself as a neurosurgeon. He also posed himself as an official of PMO and sometimes NIA official.
The accused is also wanted by Kashmir Police for a separate case, and he has married at least 6-7 women from different parts of India, including Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha.
