Rajnagar (Kendrapara): A 14-year-old girl from Odisha’s Kendrapara district, who was allegedly abducted and taken to Maharashtra, has been rescued by police. The accused, identified as Saurabh Das from Balasore district, has been arrested.
According to police sources, the minor girl, a resident of the Talachua Marine police station area, had gone missing in May this year. Following a complaint lodged by her family, a kidnapping case was registered at the Talachua Marine police station under case number 59/2025.
The investigation revealed that the accused had taken the girl to Solapur in Maharashtra and kept her there. Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid in Solapur, successfully rescuing the girl and apprehending the accused.
Police have added charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act to the case. The accused was produced before court today, while the rescued minor has been handed over to her mother.
