Baripada: In a tragic incident, a kid died and another was critically injured after they drowned in a pond at Khediaposi village under Mahuldiha police limits in Thakurmunda block in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
While the deceased kid, a boy has been identified as Subham Naik, the critically injured girl has been identified as Bhumika Paida.
According to reports, Subham and Bhumika had gone to the village Anganwadi Kendra to attend classes. The Anganwadi worker had dropped them near their house after the Kendra was closed for the day.
This being the farming season, very less number of people were present in the house and the kids went to a pond near their house for a wash.
Villagers who saw the kids drown in the pond rushed them to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Thakurmunda after rescuing them.
While doctors at the CHC declared Subham brought dead, Bhumika has been shifted to Anandapur Sub Divisional Hospital as her health condition remained critical. Doctors have said that she is now out of danger.
