Berhampur: A man and his niece were killed allegedly due to carbon monoxide poisoning in the Gajapati district on Friday night. The deceased were identified as Ganesh Nayak and Ambika Nayak.
Another girl. Jhumuri is undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College here. The incident has been reported from Betarasingh village of Sialilati panchayat under R Udaygiri police limits.
According to reports, there was a wedding ceremony in Ganesh’s neighbour’s house, and a generator was kept running for the whole night at the venue. To their misfortune, the exhaust of the generator was towards Ganesh’s house, and the family members inhaled poisonous gases emanating from it, till they were breathing.
The doctors at MKCG Medical College attributed the deaths to carbon monoxide poisoning. A case has been registered and an investigation launched into the tragedy.
