Bhubaneswar: A runaway car triggered panic in the Pipili area after smashing through a barricade and causing a chain of accidents on the Puri-Bhubaneswar National Highway late Tuesday night.
As per reports, the Thar vehicle, which was travelling from Puri towards Bhubaneswar, broke the barricade at the Pipili Toll Plaza and later collided near Pamasara, resulting in the death of a bull and a motorcyclist.
It was learnt that the uncontrolled car first rammed into the toll plaza barricade before speeding ahead and hitting a bull and a motorcycle near Pamasarasidi. Both the bull and the bike rider succumbed to their injuries in the collision.
The incident triggered panic among the commuters on the busy highway.
Police have seized the car involved in the accident. However, the driver fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle.
Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
