Kataka: The Kataka Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Tuesday sealed two hotels in the Sector-6 CDA area after a raid allegedly found adulterated food, stale food items and unhygienic conditions at the establishments.
During the inspection, KMC officials reportedly seized stale food, expired curd and suspected adulterated paneer from the two hotels. The civic body also found that the kitchen areas were not properly cleaned and allegedly noticed a large quantity of food stored in refrigerators.
The raid was carried out as part of the civic body’s efforts to check food safety and hygiene standards in eateries.
A KMC health officer said the sanitation conditions at both hotels were not satisfactory and the quality of food was not up to the required standards. The officer also pointed out that vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were being kept together at the same place.
The paneer recovered from the hotels was also tested by officials. Another KMC official said an iodine solution test was conducted on the paneer and it turned black, indicating suspected adulteration.
Following the findings, the KMC sealed both hotels and seized the food items for further action.
