Koraput: The body of a woman was recovered in Patali River near Tansing village under Padua police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district on Thursday evening after a boat capsized in the river
According to reports, at least five persons, including two women, two children, and a teenage girl went missing yesterday after a boat ferrying them from Badela village capsized in the river. The boat was ferrying three women and their children from Badela, where they had gone to attend a marriage function.
Incidentally, the boat was without a boatman and the women themselves were rowing it.
Soon after the mishap, locals informed the police and the Fire Services at Nandapur regarding the tragedy. The body of a woman was found floating in the river hours after the mishap, but others could not be traced by the Nandapur fire services personnel and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) members, who were pressed into action to rescue the victims.
The operation was discontinued on Thursday night as it was dark and it resumed on Friday morning.
