Koraput: In a tragic incident, a teacher went missing after being swept away by the strong current of the Kolab River while fishing in Koraput district.
The missing teacher has been identified as Bhimadhar Nayak, a resident of Bangalaguda. He was posted at Machliput school.
According to reports, Nayak had gone to the Kolab River to catch fish with a friend this morning. They were at the riverbank near the Intake Road on the Koraput-Damanjodi Road when Nayak was swept away by the sudden strong current of the river. After the incident, his friend managed to swim to the bank. However, there is no trace of Nayak.
Upon getting information about the incident, a team from the Fire Services Department has reached the spot. Amidst the adverse weather condition, the Fire Department has launched a search and rescue operation to find the missing teacher.
The rescue team is facing challenges due to strong current in the river. The incident has created an atmosphere of concern among Nayak’s family and acquaintances.
Till the last report came in, rescue teams are continuing to search at various places in the river to find him.
