Labourer Drowns During Bridge Repair Work In Dhenkanal

Bhubaneswar: A labourer drowned after falling into the Brahmani River during bridge repair work under Tumusingha police station limits in Dhenkanal district late Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Dilip Kumar Nayak, a native of Motihari district in Bihar.

According to reports, Dilip, along with three other labourers, was involved in ongoing repair work on the bridge when they slipped and fell into the river.

On receiving the information, Dhenkanal fire brigade personnel reached the spot and rescued three of the workers. A search operation was immediately launched and Nayak’s body was recovered from the river this morning.

The exact cause of the accident remains unclear and is currently under investigation.

Following the incident, Tumusingha police arrived at the site, sent the body for post-mortem examination, and have initiated a probe into the matter.
