Nabarangpur: Forest Department officials during a raid in Umerkote forest division of Nabarangpur district have seized a leopard skin and a bike. One person identified as Ananta Panka of Belgaon under Jharigaon police limits has been arrested by Forest Department officials in this connection.
According to Umerkote Divisional Forest Officer acting on reliable information that a leopard skin was being smuggled out from Kirapani village under Raighar block, a team of Forest Department officials nabbed Ananta Panka with the leopard skin at Semela.
A case has been registered under the Wildlife Protection Act and various sections of the IPC in this connection and Panka has been arrested.
The involvement of others in the trafficking can be ascertained after a thorough investigation, informed Umerkote Ranger Purna Chandra Nayak.
