Bhadrak: Tension prevailed in Basudevpur area of Bhadrak district on Sunday after locals staged a protest following the death of a 15-year-old boy at a community health centre, alleging medical negligence.
The deceased has been identified as Mukesh Barik (15), son of Debakanta Barik, a resident of Maliksahi village under Padmapur panchayat within Basudevpur police limits.
According to reports, Mukesh had sustained an injury to his right leg while playing and was immediately taken to Basudevpur Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. However, he died after receiving primary medical attention.
Following his death, family members and locals alleged that improper treatment at the health centre led to his demise. The allegations triggered anger among the crowd, leading to a clash between family members, locals, and police within the hospital premises.
Protesters later blocked the road and burnt tyres, demanding action against those responsible. Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of death and verify the allegations made by the family.
