Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has developed over the Gangetic West Bengal valley and adjacent Bangladesh region due to an active cyclonic circulation. This system is expected to move in a west-northwest direction towards Jharkhand over the next 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department.

Under its influence, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of the state due to the low-pressure system. It is worth noting that the state is already experiencing intermittent rainfall, and this situation is likely to continue for the next seven days.

Meanwhile, IMD scientist Umasankar Das confirmed the formation of low-pressure area over the Gangetic West Bengal valley and adjacent Bangladesh region.
