Bhubaneswar: A young man from Maharashtra drowned in a river at Hatabadada under Rairangpur Rural Police Station in Mayurbhanj district. The deceased has been identified as Sundarlal Balnath.
Balnath, a 45-year-old resident of Udasa village in Nagpur district, Maharashtra, sold herbal medicines in the Rairangpur area along with his family and relatives to support his family.
However, according to his wife, he went to bathe in the Hatabadada river and got lost. Despite searching, family members could not find him.
Locals spotted a dead body floating in the river on Monday and informed the police. Later, fire services personnel rescued the body, brought it to Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital, performed an autopsy, and handed it over to the family. A case of death has been registered at Rairangpur Rural Police Station, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
