Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance team arrested Nihar Ranjan Sarkar, Junior Engineer of Malkangiri Block, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known income.
Searches conducted on his properties revealed a triple-storey palatial building, eight valuable plots, Rs 2.11 lakh in cash, and a four-wheeler, which he failed to account for satisfactorily.
Sarkar was taken into custody and will be produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.
A case (Koraput Vigilance PS Case No.40/2025) has been registered against him. The investigation is ongoing.
