Bhubaneswar: A man has been arrested for allegedly poisoning a leopard to death in the Kusumadihi Reserve Forest under the Tamra Range of Bonai Forest Division in Sundergarh district. The leopard was found dead after it consumed a poisoned bullock carcass, which had been laced with poison by the arrested person.

The leopard had reportedly killed the bullock, belonging to the accused, in the area. Despite repeated complaints about the leopard’s presence, the forest department had only installed trap cameras.

A team of investigators, including Rourkela RCCF, is probing the incident. Bonai DFO Lalit Patra stated that the investigation will reveal the exact circumstances surrounding the leopard’s death.

The arrested individual is being questioned, and further action will be taken based on the investigation’s findings.
