Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned till 11:30 am today amid protests over the SCB hospital fire tragedy that claimed 13 lives.

As soon as Assembly proceedings commenced, BJD MLAs, wearing black t-shirts reading ‘weak Chief Minister’, demanded Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling’s resignation, alleging the state government’s inaction against him.

Opposition members shouted slogans and staged a walkout soon after Speaker Surama Padhy announced adjournment till 11:30am.

BJD Chief Whip Pramila Mallick criticized Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, saying he’s weak for not instructing the Health Minister to resign. BJD MLA Arun Sahoo echoed this sentiment, stating that if the Chief Minister doesn’t remove the Health Minister, he’ll be considered as weak.

The protesting MLAs vowed to continue their agitation until their demands are met.
