Nuapada: A man committed suicide after hacking his son to death with an axe at Phokatpada village under Dharambandha police limits in Nuapada district on Thursday.
Reportedly, Nakul Rout (55) of the village was angry with his son Shobhit Rout (23) after he married a girl of another caste. Since the marriage, the father and son had been at loggerheads.
Nakul allegedly attacked Shobhit yesterday in an inebriated condition. After watching Shobhit’s dead body, Nakul realised his mistake and committed suicide by hanging himself in his house.
On getting information, police reached the village and collected the bodies for post-mortem. A probe has also been initiated to ascertain the truth behind the incident.
