Man Dies In Accident; Kin Donate His Eyes In Sundergarh

Sundergarh: Family members of a 55-year-old man donated his eyes after he was killed in a road accident in Sundergarh town on Wednesday.

According to reports, Din Dayal Agarwal died in a road accident at Rani Bagicha Bypass under Town police station in Sundergarh today.

The family members took the body to Sundergarh district headquarters hospital for post-mortem where doctors counselled them for organ donation.

Son and other relatives of Din Dayal gave their consent for eye donation following which doctors retrieved the eyes from the body of Din Dayal.

“Doctors and other staff counselled us to donate organ. We immediately agreed and the doctors retrieved the eyes of my brother, which can be used in others. My brother is no more with us. Somebody can see the world in the eyes of my brother,” said Kisan Agarwal, brother of the Din Dayal.

The deceased, Din Dayal helped give a new lease of life to two others who can see the world in his eyes, said doctors at the hospital.

Pravasini, an ophthalmologist said “Their family members came here for the post-mortem of the deceased. I counselled them and they agreed to donate eyes. After their consent, we retrieved his eyes. I thank them for their great work.”
