Bhubaneswar: A court in Ganjam district has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a divyang girl and killing her father in Aska area of Ganjam. Additional District and Sessions Judge Praveer Kumar Chaudhary delivered the verdict.
According to the case, the incident occurred on July 13, 2024, in Sunambasahi under Aska police station. Mukesh Anand raped the disabled girl, and when her parents, Uday Muni and Mamata Muni, intervened, he attacked them, resulting in the father’s death.
The court based its verdict on witness statements, medical reports, and investigation findings. The police had registered a case based on Mamata Muni’s complaint and seized evidence, including stones used in the murder. The incident, which took place near the Asika police station, shocked the locality.
