Bhubaneswar: A special POCSO court in Cuttack on Wednesday sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for the rape of a minor girl in December last year. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict, identified as Ashok Behera.
According to case records, the victim, a minor, was playing near her home with her younger brother on December 17, 2025. Behera allegedly lured the girl to his house by offering her chocolates and then raped her.
The police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family and launched an investigation. The POCSO court convicted the accused after examining witnesses and evidence gathered by the police during the probe.
