Bhubaneswar: A 28-year-old man died due to bomb explosion after allegedly coming in contact with live bombs in the forest area near Mathura under Digapahandi police station limits in Ganjam district.
The deceased has been identified as G.Raja, a resident of Naua Maulabhanja under Digapahandi block.
According to reports, he was grazing the pigs in the forest area when he got injured. He was initially taken to Digapahandi hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. However, he died while undergoing treatment at MKCG.
Police suspected some miscreants might have laid the explosive substances for poaching wild animals, especially wild boar. On the other hand, it is also suspected that some others might have laid the bombs to protect their crops from wild animals.
Based on the complaints lodged by G.Krishna, the father of the deceased, a case was registered in Digapahandi police station. Meanwhile, Forest officials have also started an inquiry into the incident.
Meanwhile, the body was handed over to family members of the deceased to perform his last rites.
