Balasore: A man was arrested for killing his mother over suspicions of her illicit affair with another man at Baghmara village under Nilagiri police station in Balasore district on Wednesday.
The deceased mother has been identified as Kankimani Singh (45), a widow from Baghmara village and the accused, her younger son, has been identified as Durga Singh (24).
According to reports, Durga saw his mother talking to another man from their village, Baya Nayak, in the afternoon. Since then, Durga suspected that his mother and Baya were having an illicit affair. In a fit of rage, Durga beat his mother to death with a piece of wood at their house.
Locals informed the police and upon receiving the information, Nilagiri police arrived at the scene and recovered the body.
The body was then sent to Nilagiri Sub-Divisional Hospital for a post-mortem, and an investigation was launched.
Nilagiri Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pramod Mallick arrived at the spot and began searching for the youth involved in the illicit affair.
