Sundargarh: A man allegedly stoned his wife to death at Hutupani village under Talasara police limits in Sundargarh district. The accused husband Rupanan Singh absconded the scene after committing the crime.

The deceased has been identified as Durgabati Singh.

According to police, the incident occurred when the couple went to collect mahua flowers in a nearby forest. A quarrel broke out between them, and in a fit of rage, Rupanan allegedly killed his wife by hitting her with a stone.

After committing the crime, Rupanan reportedly told some villagers that he would take his own life and fled the scene. Police are searching for him in the nearby forest, river, and ponds.

Police, meanwhile, launched a manhunt to nab the accused husband.
