Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today appointed senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar Sahoo as the private secretary to the Chief Minister
According to a notification issued by the General Administration & Public Grievances department, the 2006 batch IAS officer who is currently serving as the special secretary to the Chief Minister, is appointed as the private secretary to the Chief Minister.
“The post of private secretary to the chief minister is declared equivalent in the status and responsibility to the post of Special secretary provided in the IAS cadre of the State,” the notification stated.
Sahoo, a 2006 batch officer belonging to the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre, was earlier allowed to serve in the Home Department of Odisha on inter-cadre deputation. He was previously serving as Deputy Election Commissioner. The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet had earlier approved the Department of Personnel & Training’s proposal for Sahoo’s inter-cadre deputation.
Sahoo has extensive experience in various positions under the Central Government and as a Collector and District Magistrate in different States. He had served as District Magistrate and ADM in Diu and handled Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman. He was also the District Collector in West Siang and Kurung Kumey, Arunachal Pradesh.
Sahoo was born in Singapur village under Balikuda block in Jagatsinghpur district.
