Man’s Brutal Act: Wife, Five Daughters Homeless Over ‘No Son’ Issue

Bhubaneswar: A shocking case of domestic violence and abandonment has come to light in Muruga village under Bhuban police station in Dhenkanal district.

A 15-day-old infant and her four sisters, along with their mother, were thrown out of their home by their father, Chaitanya Nayak, allegedly due to the mother’s inability to give birth to a son.

Sulochana Nayak, the mother, had married Chaitanya 14 years ago, and they have five daughters together. The husband had been abusive, repeatedly pressuring Sulochana to have a son. After the birth of their fifth daughter, Chaitanya’s anger boiled over, and he beat Sulochana, throwing her and their daughters out of the house.

The family sought shelter in the residential complex of Bhuban Community Health Center, where they spent a cold winter night. State human rights activist Pushpanjali Rana intervened, and the family is now staying in a renovated house in Dhenkanal district’s Gondia area.

A written complaint has been filed with the Bhuban police station and the District Security Superintendent, but no action has been taken so far.
