Bhubaneswar: Two members of the Andhra-Odisha Special Zonal Area Committee, working in the Swabiman area of Malkangiri district, surrendered to the Kathagudum district police in Telangana.
Madabi Unga, alias Nagesh, who served as the Area Committee Member (ACM) of the Andhra-Odisha Border Zonal Committee, and his wife, Madkam Suki, alias Roshni, turned themselves in.
Madabi Unga joined the Naxal organization ‘Baal Sangam’ in 2015 and worked until 2018. He became a member of the Andhra-Odisha Border Zonal Committee in 2019 and worked until 2023, before being promoted to ACM in 2024. A reward of Rs 4 lakh had been announced in his name.
Madakam Suki joined Baal Sangam in 2018 and worked until 2021. She became a party member in 2021 and worked as a member of the zonal committee of the Andhra-Odisha Border.
The couple cited the Maoist organization’s failure to win the trust of tribals, its decline due to police camps and raids, and its involvement in killings as reasons for their surrender. They urged others to surrender and join the mainstream, promising a happier life.
The police welcomed the couple’s decision and encouraged others to follow suit.
