Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a drunken man allegedly beat his wife to death on suspicion of an extramarital affair at Champajhar village under Mahuldiha police station limits in Mayurbhanj district late on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Salita.
According to reports, Salita husband, Uday, returned home in an inebriated state and assaulted her with a pipe and an iron rod, killing her on the spot. He then reportedly slept beside her body through the night.
On Tuesday morning, Mahuldiha police reached the spot after being informed, recovered the body, and detained Uday.
An investigation is underway.
