Baripada: In a swift and decisive action, Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police, Varun Guntupalli, has suspended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Minaketan Pradhan of Raruan police station after a video showing him allegedly accepting a bribe in broad daylight went viral on August 5.
The video, which quickly gained traction across social media and news platforms, captured the ASI purportedly taking money to release a seized motorcycle.
The incident sparked public outrage and raised serious concerns about corruption within the police force. Taking cognizance of the matter, SP Guntupalli ordered an immediate inquiry. Based on the findings of the internal investigation, disciplinary action was taken against Pradhan, leading to his suspension earlier today.
The district police have reiterated their commitment to zero tolerance against corruption and have urged the public to report any such misconduct. The suspension is being seen as a strong message from the police leadership in Mayurbhanj against unethical practices within the force.
