Bhubaneswar: : A minor boy was burnt alive after a gas cylinder burst and triggered a fire at a shop in Samantraghai Chack under Sorada police station on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Badal Mulli, 13, of Dulad village. He had come to his maternal uncle’s house in Samantraghai for summer vacation.
According to reports, Badal went to his uncle’s shop on Tuesday afternoon due to the heat. The shop caught fire for reasons that are not yet known. A gas cylinder in the shop caught fire and burst. This intensified the flames.
Badal could not escape and was burnt alive. The Sorada fire brigade reached the spot and doused the fire. Sorada police also reached the site.
An investigation into the case has begun. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
