Bhubaneswar: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in the Hindol area of Dhenkanal district on Sunday.
The minor was found unconscious near a country liquor factory, sparking outrage in the local community.
According to reports, the girl had left her home to collect palm fruits. When she failed to return after some time, her family launched a search. After hours of searching, they discovered her lying unconscious, covered with palm leaves, approximately 15 meters from their residence on the village outskirts.
The victim was rushed to Hindol Hospital in critical condition. As her health did not improve, she was shifted to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for advanced treatment.
Following a complaint lodged by the family, Hindol Police registered a case and initiated an investigation. A scientific team and a sniffer dog squad have been deployed to assist in the probe.
