Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her stepmother for eating Dahi Bara at Podasahu under Fategarh police limits in Nayagarh district, on Thursday.

The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly beat her stepdaughter to death in a fit of rage after the teenager ate Dahi Bara, a popular Odia snack.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the stepmother got angry as her stepdaughter ate Dahi Bara which the former had kept for herself. In a fit of rage, she assaulted her stepdaughter like anything which subsequently led to the latter’s death. Following the crime, she attempted to dispose of the body in an isolated area but was caught by police.
