Puri: A girl student of Class X ended her life by hanging from the ceiling fan in her room on Saturday night unable to bear the alleged repeated sexual abuse and rape by her father. The appalling incident has been reported from Matipada village in Konark under Odisha’s Puri district.
According to reports, the girl’s father has been exploiting her sexually for the last few days and the victim had informed her mother about her plight. While her mother admonished her husband for the shameful act, the latter reportedly continued his atrocities on his minor daughter. Eventually, the victim committed suicide on Saturday night unable to bear the shame and pain.
When her mother found her daughter hanging from the ceiling on Saturday, they rushed her to the Gop Community Health Centre but the doctors declared her ‘brought dead’ and informed the Gop police about the incident.
Meanwhile, the Gop police transferred the case to Konark police, who have registered an unnatural death (U/D) case and are investigating the case. While no official complaint has been lodged by the family in this connection, the girl’s mother had demanded a proper inquiry into the incident and severe punishment for the culprit.
Meanwhile, the girl’s father is said to be absconding since the death of his daughter.
