Bhubaneswar: The body of a youth, who had gone missing after jumping into the Mahanadi River near Jobra in Cuttack on Monday night, was fished out from the river near a museum, on Tuesday night. The body of the youth was found floating in the river near the museum.
The deceased has been identified as Prashant Rout, a resident of the Chhatra Bazar area in Cuttack.
It is learnt that Prashant had left his house following an altercation with his family members and decided to end his life by jumping into the Mahanadi River. His motorcycle and sandals were recovered near the waterbody.
According to locals, Rout was seen roaming near the riverbank on Monday night and jumped into the river. Locals immediately alerted the firefighting team, but due to the darkness, the search operation was not carried out.
The fire service team resumed the search operation Tuesday morning. The body of the missing youth who was feared to have drowned, has been retrieved after frantic search by firefighting officials.
