Bhubaneswar: The body of a missing villager was recovered from the Indravati South Main Canal near Kenduguda village in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Vaidyanath Dhangada Majhi, a resident of Kenduguda village under Jaipatnata police limits.
According to reports, Majhi went missing on Tuesday afternoon after he went to defecate on the bank of the canal. His leg slipped and he reportedly fell into the canal. As Majhi has been missing since then, his family members registered a missing person report at the Jaipatna police station.
On Wednesday morning, a few people from Kenduguda spotted a body floating in the canal and informed the police and the Fire Services department.
The body was recovered by the Fire Services personnel and the police sent it for post-mortem.
