Bhadrak: A man allegedly killed his son by attacking him with a sharp weapon following a family dispute in Chunida area under Bhadrak Rural police station limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Wednesday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Bikash Sahoo, while his father, Rabi Sahoo, was allegedly involved in the attack.
According to sources, a dispute had been continuing between Rabi and his son over an unspecified issue. On Wednesday morning, an argument broke out between the two, which reportedly escalated into a physical altercation.
During the altercation, Rabi allegedly locked his daughter-in-law inside the house before attacking Bikash with a knife. Bikash sustained serious injuries in the attack and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
However, doctors examined him and declared him dead.
Following the incident, local villagers reportedly detained Rabi and handed him over to the police.
On being informed, personnel from Bhadrak Rural police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident. Police are probing the circumstances that led to the fatal attack.
Sources also alleged that Rabi had previously killed his first wife. Police are verifying the claim as part of their investigation.
