Cuttack: In a shocking incident, the body of a man who went missing for last six days, was found stuffed in a gunny bag from a water body near his house at Kabichandrapur under Niali police station in Cuttack district on Friday.
The deceased identified as Prakash Sahoo had gun missing since Sunday. Family members launched a search in the locality, but failed to trace him. His family members also lodged a missing complaint at Nilai police station.
On Friday, locals found a gunny bag stuffed with the dead body floating in the water body.
On being informed, a team of police reached the spot and seized body parts for post-mortem. Two persons from the same locality have been detained and are being questioned, police said.
A scientific team with dog squad has also been engaged in the investigation, police said.
Wife of Prakash pointed finger at a local resident named Arup Nayak from whom Prakash had brought a paddy harvester on rent. Prakash had gone to Arup on December 3 and since then he had not returned home.
“The body of Prakash with hands and legs tied was found in a bag which was floating in a water body. Prima facie, it seems to be a case of murder. We are waiting for the complaint of his wife. We will register a case and start investigation accordingly,” said Cuttack (rural) SP Debadatta Barala.
