Monkey Herd Attacks

Balasore: Villagers are living in fear after a troop of aggressive monkeys attacked them, injuring 15 people in Raghunathpur Gram Panchayat under Singla Police Station in Odisha’s Balasore.

The incidents occurred in Raghunathpur Gram Panchayat, affecting people of Sanaasti, Kunkudi, Mathakankudi and Palasahi under Singla Police Station.

As per the reports, a troop of approximately 50 aggressive monkeys has been attacking locals, resulting in more than 15 people sustaining injuries. Those injured are currently receiving treatment at local hospitals.

The monkeys have been known to chase and attack anyone they see, causing residents to feel unsafe leaving their homes. Many are too frightened to go to work, and children are afraid to attend school.

“If we need to go out for any urgent work, we have to carry a stick,” said a local resident.

The situation escalated after locals informed the Forest department, which has since sent a team to monitor the area. Despite their efforts, the Forest department personnel are yet to capture the aggressive monkeys.

Villagers continue to demand that the monkeys be captured and relocated to the forest for their safety.
