Bhubaneswar: Weather conditions are favourable for the advance of South West Monsoon over some parts of Odisha within the next two-three days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.
“Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of south Peninsular India, some parts of Odisha, some more parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh during next 2-3 days,” the IMD said in its midday weather bulletin today.
According to the IMD, maximum temperature (day temperature) is very likely to be above normal by 4 – 6°C in some districts of interior Odisha during the next 2 days.
Consequently, hot and discomfort weather is likely during next 2 days and people are advised to take precautionary measures (avoid heat exposure, keep cool and avoid dehydration) while going outside during day time between 1100 IST-1500IST, the IMD added.
The IMD has issued an Orange alert warning heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, and Bolangir during the next 24 hours.
Besides, the IMD has issued a Yellow alert warning thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, during the next 24 hours.
Further, the IMD has forecast that during the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha, North Coastal Odisha, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
In its forecast for Bhubaneswar and its neighbourhood for the next 24 hours, the weather agency has said that the sky will remain partly cloudy with the possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha, North Coastal Odisha ,Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
ORANGE WARNING (BE PREPARED) 1. HEAT WAVE TO SEVERE HEAT WAVE condition is very likely to prevail at a few places over the district of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Bolangir.
YELLOW WARNING: (BE UPDATED) 2.Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
