Bhubaneswar: The Southwest Monsoon has further withdrawn from parts of Odisha on Thursday, informed the India Meteorological Department.
According to the latest update, the monsoon has withdrawn from remaining parts of Maharashtra, some parts of Goa, Karnataka, Telangana and Odisha, and some more parts of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh today.
The line of withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon now passes through 27.5°N/86.5°E, Supaul, Ranchi, Sundargada, Baragada, Bijapur, Hyderabad, Belagavi, Panjim and 15°N/72°E.This means, the monsoon has officially withdrawn from Sundargada and Baragada districts and adjoining areas of western Odisha.
The weather department said conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal of the monsoon from some more parts of eastern India and the Northern Peninsula, and many parts of northeast India during the next 3-4 days. With this, the monsoon is expected to withdraw completely from Odisha in the next few days, marking the end of the four-month-long rainy season in the state.
