Bhubaneswar: A programmer working in the office of the District Education Officer-cum-District Project Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan in Jagatsinghpur has been caught red-handed by Odisha Vigilance while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
The accused has been identified as Chandrajit Parija, Programmer, O/o DEO/DPC, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Jagatsinghpur.
According to Vigilance, Parija was demanding bribe from an executant for facilitating release of pending bills towards installation of digital black boards in schools of Jagatsinghpur district. As a member of the procurement and technical committee, Parija was responsible for inspecting the installation works and certifying them for bill release. Despite several requests, he was not inspecting the work done by the complainant and instead demanded Rs 30,000 bribe to clear the bills.
Acting on the complaint, a Vigilance team laid a trap and nabbed Parija today while he was demanding and taking the bribe money from the complainant. The entire tainted bribe money of Rs 30,000 has been recovered from his exclusive possession and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations linked to Parija from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle. In this connection, Kataka Vigilance PS Case No. 39 under Section 7 of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Further investigation is in progress.
