Bhubaneswar: The State government on Saturday announced morning classes for all from Class I to XII from April 2 in view of heat wave conditions.
The School and Mass Education department has issued an advisory regarding the morning classes. The timing of morning classes will be from 7 am to 11.30 am.
The schools have also been directed to ensure drinking water for the students.
The Collectors and District Magistrates have also been directed to keep a close watch on the weather conditions. They have been authorised to modify the instructions as per the situation on the ground.
The heat wave condition prevailed in the State as the mercury crossed 40 degrees C at several places while many stations witnessed rising trend.
Malkangiri today emerged as the hottest at 41 degrees C temperature. crossed 40 degrees C at three places today with Boudh and Titlagarh simmering at 40.5 Degrees C each. Bolangir came next with 40.2 degrees C while Nayagarh witnessed the heat wave at 40 degrees C.
The IMD also forecasted heat waves to persist in the coming days.
The office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), in a letter to the Collectors, asked to take precautionary measures to tackle the heat wave conditions.
