Bhubaneswar: Residents of Bhubaneswar woke up to already oppressive conditions on Saturday morning, with the temperature reaching 30.8°C at 5:30 AM and humidity soaring at 87 per cent.
According to local weather data, the high moisture in the air has driven the heat index — or ‘feels-like’ temperature— up to a dangerous 43°C, making outdoor activity uncomfortable and potentially hazardous even before sunrise.
Despite the early morning hours, very high humidity is making conditions feel significantly hotter, with the apparent temperature reaching 43°C.
The India Meteorological Department, has, urged citizens to stay hydrated throughout the day and to avoid prolonged exposure to the outdoors, even during the morning hours. Residents have been advised to limit physical exertion, remain indoors where possible, and use air conditioning or fans to stay cool.
Health experts recommend drinking plenty of water at regular intervals and watching for symptoms of heat-related illness such as dizziness, nausea, or excessive fatigue.
