Bhubaneswar: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Women and Child Development Department and Utkalika, along with the Odisha State Cooperative Handicrafts Corporation in the presence of deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, to provide gift items to beneficiaries under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojana.
The MoU aims to provide essential items like sarees, anklets, toe rings, footwear, bangles, wedding accessories and household utensils, cushions to eligible young women, promoting women’s welfare and boosting Odisha’s handicrafts sector.
Principal Secretary Shubha Sarma, Directors Monisha Banerjee and Nivedita Prusty, and Additional Secretary Pratap Hota were present on the occasion. The agreement was signed by Additional Secretary Sumitra Patnaik and Managing Director of Utkalika, Mamata Nayak.
Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida emphasised that this collaboration will not only ensure that welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries but also promote Odisha’s handloom and handicraft sectors, giving a boost to local artisans.
